During pregnancy, in order to accommodate the growing embryo the uterus undergoes widespread remodeling and dramatic extracellular matrix changes [1]. Studies suggest that activated human uterine fibroblasts (HUF) organize and direct the extracellular matrix remodeling in the uterus throughout pregnancy [1]. Fibroblasts are mesenchymal cells derived from the embryonic mesoderm. They have been extensively used for a wide range of cellular and molecular studies as they are one of easiest types of cells to grow in culture. Uterine fibroblasts secrete a non-rigid extracellular matrix which is rich in type I and/or type III collagen [2, 3]. Cultured Human Uterine Fibroblasts (HUF) are a useful in vitro model to study pregnancy and female reproductive disorders.
HUF from ScienCell Research Laboratories are isolated from human uterus. HUF are cryopreserved at passage one and delivered frozen. Each vial contains >5 x 105 cells in 1 ml volume. HUF are characterized by immunofluorescence with antibody specific to fibronectin. HUF are negative for HIV-1, HBV, HCV, mycoplasma, bacteria, yeast, and fungi. HUF are guaranteed to further expand for 15 population doublings under the conditions provided by ScienCell Research Laboratories.
Recommended Medium
